Track Segments
#1
Hey Christian:

Have you thought of implementing Track Segments? Not sure Segment is the correct tag name... but I looked at another products xml and it seemed to have segments as children of the track.

I have wanted segments for a long time... the gps does not support them, but if RouteConverter did it'd be great.

Segments add the ability of dividing your track into segments (that's a bit obvious, I guess), but also allows subTotals of the stats: distance / ascend / descend / etc -- which is what I'd find helpful.

If you are thinking of adding segments, I'd like to add some input to how they may work...

Big Grin Continue to love your software BTW!

I guess you're referring to <trkseg> in GPX files? Actually I've abstracted them away with the user interface since there is no easy way to represent them in the UI for novice users. They're already confused if there is more than one track/route/waypoint list within a file.

Actually I'm not thinking of adding segments. I don't have an idea for a UI, it might get complex and AFAIR only GPX uses them.

OK, that makes sense: I wasn't aware that segments were implemented so narrowly... and agree for a conversion programme it would be confusing.
