gpx file on Mac to iPad
#1
Hi forum members,

I will be joining a motor tour through Eastern Europe in the next few weeks and received the tracks for this 3 week tour in GPX and GDB format.

My GPS is however an old one, the first TomTom rider for motorbikes and as far as I know, I can not upload tracks in that device. Therefore I had another plan:
I want to load the gpx tracks in my iPad, so that I can accurately monitor the intended track on my ipad and by making a few waypoints in my Tomtom Rider I will manage to follow more or less the intended route.

I have installed the app "Trails" in my ipad. When I tried to open the gpx file in that app, I got the message: the file is too big to import.
When I looked in Routeconverter, installed on my old iMac, I saw the file contains position lists for every day.

Can anybody explain to me how I should save these days in separate files, so they are small enough to import in the app?

Or does anybody know better iPad apps that can manage bigger files?

Some days have 1 or 2 alternative tracks; is it possible to show the day track including the alternative tracks in one file, to have a good overview on the iPad?

Sorry, but I could not attach the 1.6 MB gpx file that I need to break up.
A link to Dropbox also didn't work; it was seen as a text file.

Call Positionlist/Export to a File... for each position list.

Hi Routeconverter,

Thanks for your reply, however: Unfortunately in my routeconverter version I have not seen anywhere an option "export" in the menu.
See also attached screenshots.

Nevertheless, I have found an iphone/ipad app that can load the gpx file with all tracks of all days: ViewRanger
So I could solve the issue, without needing Routeconverter.

OMG, your version 2.3.2 is from the stone age. It's lacking lots and lots of nice features which I've integrated in the last 3 years.

When checking for updates I got following message: see attachment

Please head over to the download page and try the latest 2.12 release.

Hi, using the check for updates from the routeconverter menu, resulted in the same manner as before.

But now I was successful in installing Routeconverter on my newer MacBook by first allowing "any source" in the security preference settings (to bypass Gatekeeper).
When I had not changed this in advance, I received in all cases a message saying that the file was damaged and should be moved to trash.

In the past the Gatekeeper reacted differently, that's why I did not recognize the issue.

Thank you for your feedback.
