Openstreetmap not working

Most important part of this reply is at the end!
1. I checked OSM without virusscan/ firewall running: no difference. But...from time to time OSM starts working more or less, also with virusscan/firewall 'on'.
Very strange thing: when I change from Hike Symbols to OSM, OSM displays correctly, although only the exact exactly the hike-symbols dimensions screen. Outside that specific screen: nothing (no zooming out). But zooming in is also not possible (fuzzy screen).
Still I can use this trick more or less as some kind of 'workaround'...or fall back on an older RC with Eclipse still 'on-board'.

2.Problems are growing worse: RC2.23.3  does not display any map at all. RC23.3 also starts havings problems with other maps.

The 2.23 is more than 3 years old. As things are moving fast in IT this is stone age ;-)

Please try the 2.29 release version and report if it works fine.

Hello, I am the latest iteration of this issue. Have been happily using routeconverter on Mac since May with no problems until recently. Can't remember how long ago it started, but for a few weeks, every time I open the application I am prompted to update Java or skip. After ignoring it for a while, I checked that my Java is indeed up-to-date but still get the popup on launch every time. That's not really that bothersome, but noting it in case it's related.

For the past 4ish days, the OSM online map layer just doesn't appear. OpenCycleMaps, Google whatever, everything else works. Offline maps that I download as well. Problem is, OSM is the most useful to me as I'm an OSM editor and I use routeconverter to clean up GPS traces from my activities that generate a lot of noise. Adjusting my routes over the other map layers isn't as accurate...

I can't see how to attach screenshots to my post but they'd really just back up what I'm saying here. Using current stable build 2.30, the only map layers that won't load are OSM/OSM DE.

for some reason the user agent "RouteConverter Map Client/2.30" is blocked from the openstreetmap.org and openstreetmap.de servers. Could be due to excessive misuse by some users? I have no clue.

Please try the latest prerelease which I've just uploaded. Does it solve the problem for you?

Thank you for looking into this. I just downloaded the prerelease but there is no change in the issue, still cannot load OSM or OSMDE maps.

I really shot myself in the feet... after a long journey I found the root case and a solution (described here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/5543...ed-runtime). It was basically jdeps not printing out jdk.crypto.ec as a dependency leading to suppressed exceptions in mapsforge upon javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Received fatal alert: handshake_failure at java.base/sun.security.ssl.Alert.createSSLException(Unknown Source)

To cut a long story short: Please try the prerelease I've just uploaded.
